The Argentine star recently visited the Camp Nou!
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has ruled out Lionel Messi returning to the club on a short-term loan deal, naming it as “unrealistic speculations”.
Messi recently revealed in an interview that he misses living in the city after he made an unexpected visit to Camp Nou on Sunday night.
On the other hand, Messi just agreed a new contract with Inter Miami that will last through 2028, so it doesn’t seem probable that he would return to Barcelona on a permanent deal.
However, Messi did mention that he and his family miss the city where they were raised. He returned to the Camp Nou stadium, which is currently under renovation, when Barcelona President Joan Laporta was abroad watching the squad play Celta Vigo, and the club was unaware of his return.
The fact that he did not meet Laporta, whom he and his family allegedly blame for his departure, took the club’s president by surprise. Laporta was questioned about the incident during an interview with Catalunya Radio.
Laporta rules out signing Lionel Messi on loan

Despite his desire to sign Messi, Laporta was unwilling to consider a return to the team as a player currently.
Joan Laporta said:
“Out of respect for Messi, for the professionals at the club, and for our members, I won’t make any unrealistic speculations, it wouldn’t be appropriate right now.”
The Blaugrana attempted to re-sign Messi as a free agent two years ago, but the move failed due to Barcelona‘s financial problems.
The club have finally looked settled under manager Hansi Flick, with new stars such as Yamal, Raphinha rising in stature and helping the club move forward. Despite all this, the club’s fans would love a final homecoming for their hero.
Who is Joan Laporta?
He is the president of Barcelona.
Will Messi return to Barcelona?
No, as Laporta has stated that they don’t want to set some unrealistic expectations.
When did Messi leave Barcelona?
He left them in 2021.
