John Stones & Diogo Dalot injury update ahead of Manchester Derby in Premier League

Both Manchester clubs have been hit with injury blows.
John Stones will not play for England in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Andorra. Due to his delayed recovery from muscular problems, the Manchester City defender is currently out of the team.
The Three Lions will return to action for their World Cup qualifiers, and have already been hit with an injury setback as centre-back Stones is out of the squad.
Thomas Tuchel reveals John Stones was left out of the squad due to injury

“Unfortunately, John Stones just left,” England boss Thomas Tuchel told reporters. “He came with minor issues, muscular issues, to camp and didn’t progress as we thought and hoped he would.”
“So, he left camp this morning (Friday) because we will not take the risk. Everyone else is available.”
Under new boss Tuchel, Stones, who has 83 senior England caps, was assessing his first playing time. Due to a hamstring injury, the centre-back missed the first two World Cup qualification matches and last appeared for his nation against Finland in October 2024.
Under Tuchel, England have won all three of their qualifying matches while maintaining clean sheets. However, following a friendly loss to Senegal in June, they will seek to respond in the next games.
Diogo Dalot has withdrawn from Portugal’s squad due to injury
Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot, a defender for Manchester United, has left Portugal’s squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Armenia and Hungary.
The Portuguese FA says Dalot has ‘Muscle discomfort.’.
Ruben Amorim, the head coach of United, will be relieved that Diogo Dalot returned to Manchester instead of being put in danger.
Amorim has already been handed a few injury concerns, as Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount are already doubtful for Sunday’s Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium. Both suffered ailments in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Burnley.
