LaLiga 2024-25 Team of the Season; Raphinha, Mbappe & more

The Blaugrana clinched their 28th league title this season.
After an intriguing title race, FC Barcelona clinched the 2024/25 LaLiga title after their recent win over their heated rivals, Espanyol. This season in the Spanish top flight was filled with interesting results, jaw-dropping moments, and great matches. Moreover, this season has also seen some players stand out among the rest.
These names had brilliant league campaigns and made our LaLiga 2024-25 team of the season.
Formation: 4-3-3
GK: David Soria (Getafe)
The Spaniard joined Getafe back in 2018 from Sevilla for €3.9 million, which has proved to be a bargain. He has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the team and has been consistent throughout. The 32-year-old has kept nine clean sheets this season.
His other impressive stats, such as averaging 2.3 shots stopped per game and preventing 3.24 goals, place him between the sticks for our team of the season.
LB: Sergi Cardona (Villarreal)
Sergi played his first top-flight campaign with Las Palmas last season and was very impressive. It helped earn him a move to one of the biggest Spanish clubs at the moment. The Spaniard was a strong presence in Villarreal’s backline and received great praise for his ability to defend in one-on-one situations.
His contribution to Villarreal’s attacking play was immense as well, making this season a resounding success for him.
CB: Iñigo Martinez (FC Barcelona)
FC Barcelona signed Iñigo on a free transfer before the start of the 2023/24 Laliga season. No one doubted his quality, but the consensus among the fans was that the move was a few years too late. It seemed like Iñigo was just joining to provide some more depth to the backline.
But he proved everyone with that mindset about the move wrong. He played the role of a ball-playing and progressing centre back in a high line to perfection. The defender played an important part in FC Barcelona’s successful season.
CB: Daniel Vivian (Athletic Club)
If there is one word to describe Athletic Bilbao, it is intense. Ernesto Valverde’s team are on the verge of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2014/15 season. Daniel Vivian has played an integral role in making this campaign a success for his team.
His tactical understanding is second to none, and his composure on the ball is very impressive as well. Moreover, Vivian is a strong defender and excels in winning ground as well as aerial duels.
RB: Jules Kounde (FC Barcelona)
Koundé’s journey at FC Barcelona has been full of ups and downs. Whether it was his performance level or his position on the pitch, the player and the club failed to provide consistency to one another. However, it all changed when Hansi Flick became the new coach.
Flick turned a player who disliked playing as a right back into one of the best in the world in that position. Koundé was always a solid defender, but he has upgraded to a new level on the offensive front this season.
DMF: Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)
Real Sociedad are one of the most defensively solid teams in Spain, and their defensive midfielder, Martin Zubimendi, plays a major role in that. Positional awareness is the single most important quality that a pivot can possess, and Zubimendi is exceptional when it comes to that.
He is also very technical and can create magic with the ball at any time. Many big European clubs have shown interest in the Spanish international as he is a complete defensive midfielder.
CM: Fede Velverde (Real Madrid)
After the departure of Toni Kroos, Real Madrid bestowed the legendary number eight of Los Blancos upon Fede Valverde. The Uruguayan is one of the most versatile players in world football and can play all across the midfield. He is also a very hard-working player who oozes confidence whenever he steps onto the pitch.
He has also improved his efficiency in front of the goal. He has registered six goals and four assists in the ongoing LaLiga season.
CM: Pedri (FC Barcelona)
After struggling with injuries for the past two seasons, Pedri finally recovered at his best physical level and flourished in Hansi Flick’s system. He was at the heart of Barcelona’s midfield and dominated the middle of the park like no other. His reading of the game, technical ability and decision making make him a midfield mystro.
It earns him a place in our 2024/25 LaLiga team of the season.

LW: Raphinha (FC Barcelona)
FC Barcelona’s attack eradicated and terrorised every defence in LaLiga, and Raphinha was a crucial part of it. The Brazilian started his transition to an inside forward from a right winger during the tail-end of last season and reached his full potential in this campaign. Raphinha was instrumental in Barcelona’s league success and came up with some crucial goals in key matches.
RW: Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona)
The teenage sensation has taken LaLiga by storm and is the next big thing in Spanish football. After showing promise under Xavi last season and winning Euros in the summer, Yamal had his best domestic season in his young career in 2024/25. He was given the responsibility to make things happen in the face of adversity.
It is a testament to the immense quality that the youngster possesses. He also scored a beautiful goal that clinched the LaLiga league title for the Catalans.
CF: Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)
The French international fulfilled his dream when he finally made the switch to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain. He was under immense pressure to deliver on his debut season. Although Real Madrid failed to win any silverware, including LaLiga, Mbappe impressed everyone.
He even surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo and became the player to score the most goals for Los Blancos in their debut campaign.
