The Barcelona forward still has groin discomfort.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) expressed its displeasure following Lamine Yamal’s forced exclusion from the Spain team. This season, Yamal, a promising star from FC Barcelona, has struggled with recurring ailments. Despite these problems, he has scored four goals in six games for Barcelona since the previous international break.
Lamine Yamal has continued to experience groin problems. This issue prevented him from participating in Spain’s October victories over Georgia and Bulgaria.
Yamal won’t be available for Spain’s next games against Georgia and Turkiye, according to coach Luis de la Fuente. Lamine Yamal had a medical procedure without the knowledge of their medical team, according to the RFEF.
Yamal is set to rest for 7-10 days following the recent medical observation

When the RFEF learned of Lamine Yamal’s radiofrequency treatment on November 10, they were taken aback. The medical staff in Spain were not informed before the procedure. Only at 22:40 that evening did they receive a report advising them to rest their star for seven to ten days.
The RFEF decided to remove Lamine Yamal from the national team camp as a result of these circumstances. His health and well-being continue to be their top priorities. They hope he recovers quickly and regains full fitness.
Yamal was overworked by Spain’s personnel during the September international break, which was criticised by Barcelona manager Hansi Flick earlier in the 2025-26 season. The young player suffered an injury as a result.
After four games, Spain lead the World Cup qualifiers Group E table with an undefeated record. If they win, the Euro 2024 champions should be guaranteed a place in the competition the following year.
Spain manager expresses displeasure following Yamal’s omission
De la Fuente: “I’m shocked, I’ve never been through a situation like this before, and I don’t think it’s normal at all. Everyone is surprised, you don’t know anything, no news reaches you, and you don’t know any details, then they suddenly tell you”
How long will Yamal be out?
He is expected to be out for 7-10 days.
Has Yamal suffered another injury?
No, he has discomfort in the same area.
Where do Spain stand in their World Cup qualifier group?
Spain are first in group E.
