Lamine Yamal stars as Spain cruise past Croatia in Euro 2024 group stage

Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to make a debut in Euro history.
Spain defeated Croatia 3-0 to kick up their 2024 European Championship thanks to goals from Dani Carvajal, Fabin Ruiz and Alvaro Morata. But with Croatia having greater possession of the ball, La Roja had to put in more effort and had to work harder.
But when Morata gave Spain the lead, they relaxed and increased their pressure. A few minutes later, PSG player Ruiz added to Spain’s lead, making Croatia perform more manual labour.
However, with just a few minutes remaining before halftime, teenager Lamine Yamal found Real Madrid right-back Carvajal with a superb cross, which allowed Spain to take a three-goal advantage into the game.
Even though Croatia applied pressure and attempted to hit the back of the net, Spain were fortunate in a few instances as Marc Cucurella’s superb block to deny Croatia just after the interval kept the Chequered Ones out of the contest.
With ten minutes remaining, Croatia appears to have gained ground! Rodri brings Petkovic down in the box after Simon makes a mistake.
The Croatian attacker then comes up and the ball is saved by Simon, but Petkovic is there to slot in the rebound. However, the goal is disqualified due to infringement in the penalty area, as determined by the VAR review.

After that, Croatia never appeared to be a dangerous team as Spain remained in control of the game. They will top Group B with a huge goal differential and a clean sheet record after the victory.
Croatia still have a chance to make it to the round of 16, but they will need to put in a lot of effort in their next two matches because they are both very important. Meanwhile, Spain already won their opening round of the Euro 2024 competition and will be hoping to keep playing well.
After that, Croatia will play Albania and Spain will play Italy.
