The 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup is around the corner and the top teams from around the world are all set to battle it out for the prestigious trophy.

This time around, the expanded tournament have 1248 players across 48 teams, giving it all at the grandest stage of them all. The competition is not going to be easy for any nation and supporters should also be ready for upsets too.

Ahead of FIFA’s flagship tournament, we have already witnessed some unexpected results. The 2010 competition winners were held to a 1-1 draw by Iraq, and two-time world champions France were handed a 1-2 loss by Ivory Coast.

Led by Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil is placed in Group C along with the likes of Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. This is going to be an interesting group stage run to look at.

Speaking after A Selecao’s recent win against Egypt, Ancelotti said, “I have decided the starting lineup to face Morocco. The changes I may make will depend on some details, but the idea is clear.”

AS Roma right-back Wesley has been ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after an injury during a recent friendly. The 34-year-old Danilo is now likely to start at right-back ahead of Al Ahli’s Ibanez.

Ederson of Atalanta BC has replaced Wesley for the mega competition.

Douglas Santos is doing a good job for A Selecao on the left, but the first-choice left-back is most likely to be experienced, Alex Sandro.

Flamengo star Lucas Paqueta has cemented his place in the midfield. He will start alongside Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes in the 3-man midfield setup.

Carlo Ancelotti has shown confidence in Brentford’s Igor Thiago as the first-choice striker of Brazil during the recent friendly against Egypt. Matheus Cunha of Manchester United surely offers quality and have a slight edge to get a starting place in Selecao’s lineup for their opening World Cup fixture against Morocco.

Endrick impressed everyone after his sensational match-winning goal for the Brazil national football team in their recent warm-up game. He is still not confirmed to start ahead of Raphinha on the right flank.

Neymar’s spot is still not confirmed due to his fitness issues, but he might come in from the bench if fit in time to compete.
