UE Cornellà announce that Argentinian footballer and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has formalised the acquisition of the club, becoming the new owner of the Baix Llobregat institution.
The legendary Lionel Messi of Inter Miami surprisingly became the new owner of Cornella, a team located in Catalonia, where Messi grew up and played for one of the famous clubs, FC Barcelona.

The complete wording of the club’s statement, which was posted on their website, commented on the former Barcelona star’s purchase of the club.
“This move reinforces Lionel Messi’s close ties to Barcelona and his commitment to the development of sport and local talent in Catalonia — a connection rooted in his years at FC Barcelona and sustained ever since.”
The Catalan club Cornella has produced a number of well-known alumni. Along with current Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, Jordi Alba and Gerard Martin all rose through the club’s ranks.
The statement also states:
