The Argentine was asked if he considers himself as the GOAT.
Over the years Lionel Messi has entertained fans around the globe with his football qualities and established himself as one of the greatest of all time in the sport. Not only did he win many individual records he also completed football when we won the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
However, whenever he is been questioned regarding the GOAT debate or if he considers himself as the GOAT, he always provides a rather humble response.
Meanwhile, his long-term rival Cristiano Ronaldo has always considered himself as most complete player of all time. Ronaldo feels he sees himself among the greatest of all time. Even recently he made comments about himself as the best player of all time.
On the other hand, when the current Inter Miami forward was asked if sees himself as the best player in history, the former Barcelona player said:
”I never said it, thought of it or even tried to come to terms with it. For me being able to be seen or cited as the best player in the world is more than enough.”
Throughout his playing career, the Argentine has lifted every trophy possible and also won as many individual awards as he could. Messi also boasts an incredible eight Ballon d’Or awards. It is a massive milestone for him in his career as he is the only player to lift that many times.
These achievements in his career are enough to consider him the GOAT. But there has always been debate regarding who is the greatest of all time as fans continue to put Messi and Ronaldo in the GOAT debate given their dominance in their playing career.
Meanwhile, Messi now doesn’t have many years left in his playing career. Currently, he is spending (some of them hopefully) playing for Inter Miami. However, there are chances that he could also feature in the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be jointly hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
