Lionel Messi nearing agreement on NEW multi-year Inter Miami contract: Report

According to ESPN, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are almost done negotiating a new multiyear deal for the club captain, with only a few specifics remaining to be decided.
According to insiders, the two parties are nearing the end of their negotiations, and an agreement is anticipated soon.
The deal will be submitted to Major League Soccer for final approval after Messi and Inter Miami have reached an agreement.
Messi wants to continue at Miami

Miami and the Argentine captain had stated that they were still keen on pursuing their partnership both on and off the field, despite earlier reports that linked Messi to teams in other leagues.
Messi arrived in South Florida on July 15, 2023, and signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Inter Miami that would last until the end of the 2025 season.
Only a few weeks after making his debut, he had an instant influence on the team, leading Inter Miami to their first-ever Leagues Cup (2023) victory. Messi also won the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and helped the Herons set the league record for most points in a single season since joining the MLS squad.
Messi appeared in 36 games for Inter Miami in 2025, scoring 28 goals and dishing out 14 assists throughout all competitions, including the MLS, Leagues Cup, Club World Cup, and Concacaf Champions Cup.
Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami, previously stated to ESPN that the team would stop at nothing to make sure Messi is at ease with extending his contract and retiring in South Florida.
Ahead of their Saturday home game against DC United, Inter Miami are in sixth place in the MLS Eastern Conference.
