Lionel Messi's new Inter Miami contract details revealed

The Argentine superstar has committed his future to Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi has committed to staying with Inter Miami through 2028 by signing a new three-year deal with the MLS side. A social media clip of Messi penning his contract inside Inter Miami’s new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, which is scheduled to open in 2026, was used to make public the deal on Thursday, October 23.

“It makes me really happy to stay here and to continue with this project that, besides being a dream, has become a beautiful reality. Since I arrived in Miami, I’ve been very happy, so I’m truly glad to keep going here,” Messi said in a statement.

Lionel Messi is still anticipated to earn the highest salary of any player in Major League Soccer. During his first contract, which ran from July 2023 to 2025, he received $20.445 million a year from Inter Miami and MLS.

He became the highest-paid player in league history by adding bonuses to his base wage. With record-breaking team accomplishments, a significant boost in franchise value, and increased fan involvement, this contract also helped Inter Miami rise to the top of the MLS financially.
