After years of preparation by co-owners David Beckham, Jorge Mas, and Jose Mas, Lionel Messi’s new home, Nu Stadium, debuted this week. The $350 million stadium, which can accommodate 26,700 people, is the 22nd soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer.

Lionel Messi scored his team’s first goal, levelling the game at 1-1 in the tenth minute with a rare headed goal that sent the stadium’s inaugural crowd—as well as the Lionel Messi Stand—into ecstasy. Meanwhile, Guilherme Biro of Austin FC claimed the title of scoring the stadium’s first-ever goal. At the end, the Herons drew 2-2.

The lengthy legacy Messi leaves in this new stadium will only become clear with time.

Few of Messi’s greatest international moments have occurred at home in Argentina, despite the fact that he has participated in two World Cup finals and won one in Qatar in 2022. Additionally, the Argentine men’s national team does not have a permanent stadium; instead, they alternate home sites in the nation.

Messi has scored 19 goals and 11 assists in 28 games at River Plate’s Estadio Monumental, which is the most popular arena for his national team home games. La Bombonera of Boca Juniors is in second place with seven games played, five goals, and two assists.

3. Parc des Princes

Messi’s tenure at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) never reached the heights he or the team had hoped for.

Messi registered 20 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances at PSG’s home field on his way to winning two Ligue 1 titles. He played two fewer games at the Parc des Princes than at Inter Miami Stadium.

Inter Miami Stadium was the second most productive home stadium of Messi’s career. He not only guided the team to its greatest moments during his seasons there but also won two MLS MVP Awards and the 2025 MLS Golden Boot.

Messi’s second most prolific venue was Inter Miami Stadium, where he finished with 47 goals and 31 assists in 47 games. It is second only to Camp Nou.

Unsurprisingly, Messi’s best years were spent at FC Barcelona, where he won six of his eight Ballon d’Ors and many other honours that made him one of the greatest of all time. He also guided the Blaugrana to four UEFA Champions League victories and 10 LaLiga titles.

He won 308 of the 382 games played at the expansive venue. His 396 goals and 135 assists contributed significantly to the winning record. With 30 free-kick goals on the field, he was also a dangerous free-kick taker.

After winning the MLS Cup with Inter Miami in late 2025, he even sneaked inside the newly remodelled Spotify Camp Nou since his memories of the stadium and his tearful departure remained so meaningful to him.
