The Inter Miami captain suffered a hamstring injury in a recent match

Lionel Messi sustained an injury while playing for Inter Miami, therefore he will be absent from Argentina‘s friendlies against Costa Rica and El Salvador.

An update on Lionel Messi’s health has been provided by Argentina, who have stated that the captain will miss friendly against Costa Rica and El Salvador during the international break because of a hamstring injury he sustained while playing for Inter Miami. The attacker will continue his recovery in South Beach because he has missed the last two Inter Miami games.

A statement read: “The captain of Argentina Lionel Messi, will not be able to be in the squad for the friendlies in USA due to a minor injury to the hamstring of his right leg suffered in his team’s Inter Miami’s match against Nashville SC.”

Tata Martino, the head coach of Horon, stated that he personally wished to take “no risks” with his star player and made hints that the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner will miss the March friendly. He does, however, have a target return date for the Argentine, hoping to be well enough to play in their CONCACAF Champions Cup opener on Tuesday, April 2, against Liga MX rival CF Monterrey.

He will work with Inter Miami to complete his rehabilitation while he attempts to heal from his hamstring injury. He probably won’t play for the Herons in at least one more game given the encounter on March 23. It’s now simply a race to be fit for the match, but Martino has a goal in mind for his comeback.

Following injuries to AS Roma striker Paulo Dybala, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios, and Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, Messi is the most recent unavailability for Lionel Scaloni’s team.Argentina’s next matchups are against El Salvador on Friday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and Costa Rica at the Los Angeles Coliseum four days later.

Former Barcelona forward Luis Suarez assumed responsibility for leading Miami to victory in his absence by hitting a brace.Following his team’s victory over Washington on Saturday, Miami coach Gerardo Martino made a suggestion that Messi could be sidelined by the March internationals in order to be ready for the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals the following month.

“It is clear that with him there is an objective that he can play in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. We’re not going to take any risks,” Martino said.
