Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli have entered talks with Lionel Messi to sign the forward from Inter Miami, when his deal expires at the end of the year, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Saudi Arabia clubs pursued Messi when he left Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, but the forward decided to relocate to the USA and signed for Inter Miami.

Once again, the former Barcelona star’s deal will end after the conclusion of 2025, and he will become a free agent. Although five months still remain in his Inter Miami deal, meaning the 38-year-old is legally permitted to start talks with other clubs for a possible move in January.

However, the Florida-based club wish to retain their star player, and the club’s board has repeatedly mentioned that the talks regarding the extension of his contract are ongoing.

Al-Ahli have been in talks with Lionel Messi for several weeks

Meanwhile, Al-Ahli, the winners of the Asian Champions League Elite, have been persuading Messi for several weeks to join the club, with the contract offer yet to be revealed.

However, for Lionel Messi, it remains to be seen, as other reports state that he could renew his contract with Inter Miami and keep himself in top condition for the FIFA World Cup tournament next year.

It will be interesting to see as his decision regarding his future will be important for him, as he would want to remain fit to compete in the World Cup. His performance in recent games has underlined that Messi still boasts impressive quality to influence the game.
