The former Barcelona star recently visited Camp Nou.
In a recent interview, Lionel Messi expressed how much he longs to return to Barcelona with his family, since his shocking exit from the club in 2021.
After signing a new deal with Inter Miami, the Argentine forward gave an exclusive interview, where he talked about various topics, including returning to Barcelona.
The GOAT did return to the city this week and posted a picture of himself visiting Camp Nou at midnight. He claims he can’t wait to see the stadium in person once it’s ready.
Messi comments on his future and Barcelona
When asked whether he had a message for Barcelona supporters, Lionel Messi was delighted to discuss returning home.
“We miss Barcelona a lot, that the children continuously, and my wife, talk about Barcelona, the idea of living there again. We have our house, everything, so it’s what we want,” Messi told Sport.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to the stadium when it’s finished because since I went to Paris I haven’t returned to the Camp Nou either [note: the interview took place before his trip to Barca this week] and then they went to Montjuic.”
“It’s going to be weird to go back to the new stadium and see it because the last time I saw it was a long time ago and it’s going to be exciting to live again and remember everything that was, beyond the fact that the stadium is different. Grateful for the affection as always and nothing but thank you.”
Lionel Messi recently signed a contract with Inter Miami that would last until the end of the 2028 season; thus, it is anticipated that he will remain in Major League Soccer for a bit longer.
