The defender will miss around 6 months with this injury
Lucas Hernandez, a defender for France, tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, thereby ruling him out of the upcoming European Championship in 2024.
During Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League semi-final first-leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, Hernandez was substituted off at the stroke of halftime. The 28-year-old required treatment following the goal before making a brief return to action. It appeared that he suffered the injury trying to stop Niclas Fullkrug from opening the score.
Hernandez will have surgery in the coming days, according to PSG, which revealed on Thursday that Hernandez had received an MRI in order to verify the ACL injury.
Since making his senior debut in 2018, Hernandez has earned 37 caps for France and has appeared in three of the team’s eight Euro 2024 qualifying matches.
Group D at Euro 2024 will include France, the Netherlands, Austria, and Poland. On June 17, they start their campaign against Austria in Dusseldorf.
Füllkrug’s first touch was to cling onto Nico Schlotterbeck’s ball, and his second was to drive it past Gianluigi Donnarumma, the PSG custodian.

PSG’s route to UCL final
Dortmund have a 1-0 advantage now going into the semi-final of second-leg at Parc des Princess.
The two-leg match champions will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the June 1 final in London. Hernandez joined PSG for the first time this season after leaving Bayern Munich for €40 million in the summer. As PSG secured a second league title late this month, he made appearances in 27 Ligue games this season.
Hernandez has 37 international caps for Les Bleus and was expected to play a significant role for France in their run to the 2022 World Cup Final before suffering a knee injury in their opening group-stage game.
