Luis Suarez & Lionel Messi partner to found a football club in Uruguay

Both former Barcelona players currently play for Inter Miami.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez have been teammates on the field for a number of years. They are now working together as businessmen.
Suárez said on Tuesday that he has established a professional soccer team in Uruguay, where he was born, and he is working with his Inter Miami teammate on the endeavour.
In a video shared on social media, Suárez, Uruguay’s national team’s all-time top scorer, clarified that the squad, which was formerly known as Deportivo LS, will now be known as LSM and will begin playing professional soccer in Uruguay’s fourth division.
“Deportivo LS is a family dream that began in 2018. We have grown a lot with more than 3,000 members,” Suárez said. “I want to offer Uruguayan soccer, the place I love and where I grew up as a child, opportunities and tools for teenagers and children to grow.”
Suárez, 38, partnered with Lionel Messi for a total of six seasons at Barcelona before joining Inter Miami as a colleague for the last two years. Suárez retired from international soccer last September.
“I’m proud and happy that you chose me, so I hope to contribute everything I can to continue growing and, above all, to be by your side in this,” said Lionel Messi, who was sitting alongside Suárez in the video.
Although Messi will be a partner in the initiative, his exact position is still unknown, according to local media. Additionally, Álvaro Recoba, a former Inter Milan and Uruguay national team player, was supposed to be the squad’s coach.
In addition, the announcement led to the creation of the club’s Instagram account, which two hours later had over 40,000 followers.
In 2018, Suárez and his family inaugurated a 20-acre sports complex at Ciudad de la Costa, which is located outside of Montevideo. It offers almost 3,000 members a wide range of activities.
Among other fields, the club features a stadium made of synthetic turf that can hold 1,400 spectators.
