Manchester City in advanced talks to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest: Report

The club wants to replace Kevin De Bruyne with Gibbs-White.
According to reports, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest will intensify their negotiations over a possible summer trade for Morgan Gibbs-White.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Gibbs-White is a “priority target” for Manchester City, who intend to “advance” negotiations for the attacking midfielder in the upcoming weeks.
City should have no trouble reaching a personal agreement with Gibbs-White. But they might have a difficult time persuading Forest to let go of the 25-year-old.
Legendary midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has declared his intention to leave Manchester City this summer, and the team is currently looking for a replacement. It will be difficult to find a replacement for the outstanding Belgian. Even coach Pep Guardiola has already acknowledged that it will be “almost impossible” to replace De Bruyne.
This season, however, Gibbs-White has excelled in a high-flying Nottingham Forest squad, contributing five goals and seven assists to Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Meanwhile, where De Bruyne will play football next season is still up in the air. The midfielder has not ruled out staying in England, although MLS team Chicago Fire are reportedly interested.
Gibbs-White has emerged as an excellent in player for Forest, who have been the Premier League’s surprise outfit this season. They are still in the running to earn a spot in the 2025–26 Champions League, sitting sixth in the league standings, three points behind fifth-place Chelsea.
It makes sense that Forest would want to hold onto Gibbs-White, and reaching the Champions League will presumably increase their chances of keeping other teams from showing interest in their best players.
Gibbs-White is expected to fetch roughly ÂŁ100 million for the Tricky Trees. But it is unclear if Man City will be willing to pay that amount. They can probably buy another player worth that much, like Florian Wirtz.
On Tuesday, May 20, Manchester City will bid De Bruyne farewell following their season-ending home match against Bournemouth. By playing Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, the Belgian will be hoping to round up his City tenure with another trophy.
