According to reports, Rodri will receive a big contract offer from Manchester City, catapulting the Spanish player into the top earners in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder has a deal with the Treble winners that runs until 2027 and pays him about £180,000 per week.The Sun claims that City wants to increase that and give him a salary that is closer to £300,000 per week. They claim that Rodri is entirely focused on City’s pursuit of another Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League triple crown and that there is no rush to finalise the transaction.However, negotiations may begin this summer, with a two-year extension purportedly on the table to allow Rodri to play until he turns thirty-two.

With the increase in compensation, Rodri—who hasn’t experienced a loss in a game for either City or Spain since March 28 of last year—would now be among the top-paid players at the Etihad Stadium.

With a weekly salary of £400,000, Kevin De Bruyne is thought to be the top earning in the Premier League, followed by star attacker Erling Haaland, who makes £375,000.Rodri’s pay would be almost £300,000 per week, which would put him in line with Jack Grealish. Mohamed Salah, a star for Liverpool, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, along with Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea, all thought to make over £300,000 a week.

Since joining City in 2019, Rodri has more than justified the £62.6 million transfer fee he received from Atletico Madrid.In addition to the three Premier League wins, he has assisted Pep Guardiola’s team in winning the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.When City defeated Inter Milan to win the Champions League final and clinch the treble last season, Rodri scored the game-winning goal.Because of his impact, City’s three Premier League losses this year have occurred during Rodri’s suspension. Nevertheless, he has eight goals and twelve assists in all competitions.
