The Red Devils will host Wolves tonight.
Manchester United have only won two of their previous five games, in addition to battling with injuries and the loss of some of their most crucial players.
In addition to Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire, and Matthijs de Ligt being injured and Mason Mount having to be replaced against Newcastle on Boxing Day, Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo are all away on international duty at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
That game was won 1-0 by Ruben Amorim’s team, and they do have some extremely favourable games ahead of them.
Their next three games are against Wolves, Leeds, and Burnley. Right now, all of those sides are ranked 16th or lower in the table. Here is the latest Manchester United injury news:
Manchester United injury update
Mason Mount

- Potential return date: December 30 vs Wolves (H)
Due to an injury he suffered during the first half of the match against Newcastle, Jack Fletcher replaced Mount at halftime.
Amorim stated following the game: “He felt something at halftime, although the nature of the injury has not been confirmed. It’s also a wonderful thing that he wants to continue.”
United will be hoping that Mount can recover quickly because he has been playing well this season.
Bruno Fernandes

- Potential return date: January 2026
Since sustaining a hamstring injury during the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa before Christmas, Fernandes has remained sidelined.
It is great that United have a slightly lighter schedule while he is away, considering he is anticipated to be sidelined for several weeks.
Kobbie Mainoo
- Potential return date: January 4 vs Leeds United (A)
The young player would have been eligible for some much-needed playing time while Casemiro was serving a suspension versus Villa, so it was a poorly timed injury. Mainoo has not yet started a Premier League match and has been linked to a January transfer.
Amorim has said Mainoo will be back quicker than Fernandes.
“I don’t think that it is going to take a lot of time. Kobbie is going to return faster than Bruno.”
Matthijs de Ligt
- Potential return date: January 4 vs Leeds United (A)
After playing 90 minutes in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on November 30, De Ligt has been sidelined for a few weeks due to a back problem. He played a crucial role in Amorim’s defence, and Ayden Heaven has been reliable in his place.
Earlier this month Amorim said on the return De Ligt: “I don’t know, sometimes you have an idea, then you have to see day by day. I’m not going to say when he is coming back.”
Harry Maguire

- Potential return date: January 4 vs Leeds United (A)
Since United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham at the beginning of November, Harry Maguire has been battling a thigh issue.
When asked if any players could be back against Wolves, Ruben said, “No.”
“I don’t know how Mase is going to be for that game. I think Kobbie Mainoo is not going to be ready, Bruno is not going to be ready, Matta is not going to be ready, Harry is not going to be ready, so I don’t think we are going to have more players.”
