Casemiro enters the record books following his header against Brentford.

Goals can take many different forms; some are artistic creations, while others are modest yet invaluable. The traditional headed goal, in which a player defies gravity, soars above the mayhem in the box, and thunders the ball into the net with pure willpower, is one of the most brutally effective.

Although they aren’t always the most beautiful blows, they have the ability to quickly change momentum and completely change the course of a game.

However, in just one Premier League season, which Manchester United players perfected the art of scoring goals from headers? Let’s look at it below.

Rooney was a consistent goalscorer during the prime years of his career. He arrived at United as a wonderkid but left as the club’s all-time goalscorer.

Wayne Rooney was a prolific scorer who, at his best, developed his heading skill to score five goals in the 2011-12 season. Even though he wasn’t a tall striker, Rooney managed to put up decent numbers that season, which was his most headed goals.

7. Chicharito: 5 goals (2010-11 season)

Chicharito’s arrival coincided with the club’s dominant era when Manchester United were regularly winning Premier League titles and competing in the Champions League.

When Javier Hernandez joined United, he was considered the breakout star of world football and the biggest surprise in the English Premier League. Hernández became the first Mexican player to join Manchester United in 2010. During his time at the club, he became one of Ferguson’s most trusted players and left a mark, while also scoring a couple of headed goals.

6. Wayne Rooney: 5 goals (2009-10 season)

Wayne Rooney, scored five goals from headers during the 2009–10 Premier League season. Even though he was not a tall striker and more known for his all-round game, this is a very respectable record.

However, he was adept at scoring goals from his foot, as he wasn’t actually dominant in the year, but there have been some seasons where he has been able to defy such odds and scored many header goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a freak in the air; he can easily defy gravity by launching himself up to nine feet seven inches. Being able to outperform the others in the air at crucial times became second nature to him and became a signature move in his toolbox.

He remains one of the best in the world because of his capacity to produce when it counted most. Many think that Ronaldo has an advantage due to his unparalleled physicality and athleticism.

4. Andrew Cole: 5 goals (1999-00 season)

During his 1988–2008 professional career, Andrew Cole is primarily known for his stint with Manchester United, who signed him from Newcastle United for a British record transfer fee at that time.

During his six years with Manchester United, Cole won nine trophies, including five Premier League crowns and the historic treble in 1999 (UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Premier League). He scored 5 headed goals during the 1999-2000 league season.

3. Edinson Cavani: 6 goals (2020-21 season)

Edinson Cavani’s remarkable mobility in the penalty area has distinguished him from other strikers and enabled him to score numerous headers throughout his great career.

In 2020, Cavani signed with Manchester United on a free transfer from PSG. Headers accounted for half of his 12 Premier League goals for Manchester United during the 2020-21 season.

In their matchday 34 game against Brentford, Casemiro scored another outstanding header for Manchester United and led them to a 2-1 win. Following his header, the Brazilian moved near the top of a record list at United, which only a handful of stars have been able to achieve at the club.

Casemiro now shares the record for the most headed goals scored by a Man United player in a single season, thanks to his goal. He now shares it with ex-United star Dwight Yorke, who did it in the 1999–2000 campaign. But the midfielder can overtake his record before the end of this season.

1. Dwight Yorke: 8 goals (1999-2000 season)

Dwight Yorke is one of the best goal scorers in the Red Devils’ history, and is also known for his impressive scoring record in the Premier League.

During the 1999-2000 league season, Yorke scored an incredible eight headed goals. Yorke’s agility and awareness allowed him to take advantage of crosses and set pieces and use his heading ability lethally.
