Goalscorers in football depend on their teammates. They need to be provided with the support to score goals for their team or nation and, ideally, win games. The success of a team also depends on individuals in more creative play and how they find their attackers in space to create goal-scoring chances.

We’ve listed some of the greatest individual genius performers who have provided the most assists in a single Premier League season.

7. Mohamed Salah (2024-25) – 18 assists

Mohamed Salah’s low cross for Luis Díaz’s opening goal against West Ham United on April 13, 2025, put him on track to 18 assists for Liverpool in the 2024–25 Premier League season. He is now just three assists away from breaking the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season.

The Egyptian, who has committed to a new deal with the team to play in the Premier League after 2024–2025, is having his greatest season ever in terms of assists. He previously set up 13 for his teammates in 2021–2022, which was his other best total in a campaign.

6. Kevin De Bruyne (2016-17) – 18 assists

Kevin De Bruyne recorded his second-highest assist total to date in just his second season with the Sky Blues. After leading City to fourth place in the 2015–16 Premier League season with seven goals and nine assists in his debut season, the Belgian midfielder tried his hardest to help his team climb up the table with a league-high 18 assists the following season.

5. Cesc Fabregas (2014-15) – 18 assists

Cesc Fabregas, who collected 18 assists for Chelsea in the 2014–15 season, is the only player on this list to have recorded the most assists in a Premier League season for different clubs. After spending three seasons playing in LaLiga for Barcelona, he returned to the top English division and joined Chelsea.

Only five players, including Fabregas, recorded double-digit assists that season, with Santi Carzorla coming in second with just 11 assists. His 18 assists was a significant lead over Carzorla.

4. Frank Lampard (2004-05) – 18 assists

Frank Lampard was one of the most inventive and prolific goal-scorers in football history. In the 2004–05 Premier League period, England international led the league in assists by a significant margin with 18 assists.

Lampard would score 13 goals during that campaign, which tied him with Blues colleague Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and attacker Jermain Defoe for fourth place in the league in scoring chart.

3. Mesut Ozil (2015-26) – 19 assists

During his seven years in North London with Arsenal, Mesut Ozil was an extremely underappreciated playmaker who played a vital role in the midfield.

However, his most significant individual contribution to the team, at least in terms of statistics, occurred during the 2015–16 Premier League season. He helped the Gunners finish second to Leicester City in their incredible season, their greatest league finish since the 2004–05 season, with 19 assists.

2. Kevin De Bruyne (2019-2018) – 20 assists

Once more, Kevin De Bruyne set a Premier League record. This time, he had 20 assists in a single season and recorded his highest-ever assist total in the 2019–20 season. In addition, he finished 15th overall in the league with 13 goals.

The second-highest total of any midfielder in his career during a league campaign. This was the only season in which Man City did not win a championship. Liverpool, managed by manager Jurgen Klopp, were the better side, amassing 99 points and winning the title.

1. Thierry Henry (2002-03) – 20 assists

Thierry Henry still retains the record alongside De Bruyne for the most assists in a single Premier League campaign. He set a new mark in the 2002–03 campaign with Arsenal.
