Manchester United prioritising Mason Greenwood sale for reinvesting funds in summer 2024

Greenwood is currently on loan at Getafe
One of the more contentious topics of the summer will be Mason Greenwood’s future, as a return to Manchester United “cannot be ruled out.”
Following an internal inquiry into the events surrounding his arrest in 2022 and the subsequent dismissal of the criminal charges against him, the 22-year-old’s departure from the team was revealed in August of last year.
But in March, Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would reevaluate his circumstances in the upcoming months, which gave rise to a surprising turn in the story.
Greenwood has been spending this campaign on loan at Getafe, where he has helped the team rebuild his reputation by contributing six assists and eight goals in his first 28 games.
According to Romano, Man Utd are planning to sell the player. The money from his transfer will be key in FFP regulations and the club can spend it on other players.

The Times reports that Greenwood is highly regarded by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as Juventus, who are interested in signing him this summer. Getafe would love to have Greenwood back on loan for one more season, but right now that doesn’t appear likely.
Regarding Greenwood’s future, Getafe manager Jose Bord alas stated ahead of their game against Almeria this coming weekend: “We haven’t spoken about it yet. He’s in the same situation as the other loanees.
“When the season is over, it will be time to get down to work to see if Mason will be able to stay another year or not.”
According to a number of sources, Man Utd would seek £40 million for Greenwood’s transfer, which makes a deal challenging for Juventus and Barcelona.
According to the report, the Red Devils will think about bringing the attacker back to Old Trafford for the upcoming campaign if they do not receive a good offer for him.
