Manchester United prioritising move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer

United are desperate to add a quality centre-back next summer
During the summer transfer window, Manchester United are said to have made it their top priority to buy a centre-back, with Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace being their main choice.
This campaign, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane have all missed time due to injuries sustained in the centre defensive for United. In the past three games, Casemiro has been substituted in for Harry Maguire, following the injury death of 19-year-old Willy Kambwala.
In the summer transfer window, a squad revamp is planned in response to the February appointment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team. Dan Ashworth is undergoing arbitration at Newcastle to take on sports director, while Ratcliffe has appointed Jason Wilcox from Southampton to serve as technical director.

During the summer, Ashworth and Wilcox will be in charge of a recruitment campaign, and a central defender is vital. Max Kilman, the captain of Wolves, and Guehi are at the top of their wishlist, according to The Times.
After undergoing knee surgery in February, Marc Guehi is now sidelined but should be back on the pitch shortly. He hopes to play for England at Euro 2024. With two years remaining on his deal, the 23-year-old is valued at £55 million by Palace, who are prepared to lose him this summer given that Arsenal is also a potential contender.
The nine-cap England international, who paid £18 million to join Palace three years ago from Chelsea, has been scouted by both United and Arsenal.
The Blues would have the chance to match any offers this summer because Guehi was nurtured at their academy, but Tottenham are unlikely to rekindle its fascination after acquiring Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin.
Marc Guehi has played in the Premier League for Palace in 108 games, and Manchester United values his experience there. If he were to reach his £55 million asking price, he would surpass the club record sale of £50 million, which United paid Palace for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
Ratcliffe is also the reason for United’s attention in Michael Olise, a midfield player for Crystal Palace who is expected to cost £60 million.
