Free kicks are not an easy way to score in football.

Many footballing icons at Old Trafford became legends at the club. The likes of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo, who are also known for their set-piece expertise, scored a great deal of spectacular free-kick goals. 

Several legends, including Beckham, scored spectacular free kicks to make a name for themselves. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal against Portsmouth is still regarded as one of the best in Premier League history. During that period, Manchester United were the team to beat in the European scene.

Here is the list of Manchester United’s top 10 best free kicks in Premier League history:

10. David Beckham vs Liverpool: 1997-98

Among the many memorable goals David Beckham scored during his career, this goal vs Liverpool in the 1997/98 season is among the finest. It gave the goalkeeper no chance of saving it. Beckham was best known for his long rangers and for his ability from set pieces.

9. Juan Sebastian Veron vs Bolton Wanderers: 2001-02

A banger of a goal from Juan Sebastian Veron against Bolton Wanderers kept their side’s lead, hitting the top right corner of the net. Although he was known for his all-round play, he was undervalued for his free kicks. He was boosted by his skills to score a lot of long-range free kicks. 

8. David Beckham vs West Ham United: 1999-00

The Manchester United legend will be remembered forever when it comes to free-kick goals. One of many memorable free kicks he scored in his career was this one against West Ham United. There are not many players better than him when it comes to free-kicks.

In his long career, David Beckham has scored many wonderful free-kick goals with this one against Fulham being one of the most underrated. He had lit up the Premier League with his free-kick goals over the years. After Louis Saha gave Fulham the lead, David Beckham scored a wonderful goal to level the match. 

6. Denis Irwin vs Liverpool: 1993-94

In spite of having a good ratio from free kicks, he was most underrated for his technique. With a pitcher of goal against Liverpool, he scored precisely from a free kick. He will be remembered as one of the game’s greatest.

Throughout his career, David Beckham has provided Manchester United fans with many memorable moments with his ability to score free kicks. This one came as no surprise as he scored a sublime free kick to put the team in a strong position against Everton in the 2002/03 season. In the footballing world, Beckham will be remembered for his free kicks despite also having made other contributions like assists or goals. 

4. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Sunderland: 2007-08

After being awarded a free kick outside the box, Ronaldo took the duty to give his side all three points. Few people would have expected him to score such a banger of a goal. With his powerful shot, he left the goalkeeper with no chance. 

3. David Beckham vs Aston Villa: 1998-99

It is not surprising that David Beckham made the top 10 free-kick goals list so many times with the legendary figure known for scoring free kicks. His goal-scoring record indicates that he has scored the most free kicks in Premier League history. In front of the fans, his strike against Aston Villa was stunning. He elegantly placed the ball with his shot into the top right corner, denying the goalkeeper any chance of saving it. 

2. Wayne Rooney vs Stoke City: 2016-17

Wayne Rooney scored a memorable goal from a long way to give the Red Devils important three points. This goal had everything power, precision and technique. Wayne Rooney is the all-time top scorer of the Red Devils.

When Cristiano Ronaldo was at Manchester United, he was one of the best free-kick takers in the world. The free kick he scored against Portsmouth will go down in history as one of the best free kicks he’s ever taken. When Ronaldo struck the ball with real power, it swirled in the corner, giving David James no chance.
