Marcus Rashford throws shade at Man United after England World Cup squad call-up

Thomas Tuchel has included the 28-year-old Marcus Rashford in the Three Lions’ final roster.

The England national football team will now be gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The upcoming edition of the mega competition is going to take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Before heading to the grandest stage of them all, the Three Lions are set to compete against New Zealand and Costa Rica in international friendly contests. They will be eager to gain some momentum. This will surely help them going forward.

The England national football team are drawn in Group L. They will get to face Ghana, Panama and Croatia in the group stage of FIFA’s flagship tournament.

The Englishmen last won the prestigious title in 1966. This time around, they are one of the favourites to win the showpiece.

Things are not going to be easy for the Three Lions in the extended tournament, which now has 48 teams and begins on June 11. Thomas Tuchel has announced the final list of players to represent England at the FIFA World Cup 2026. Many top players are included, but there are some stars who have not been included in the final squad.

Marcus Rashford throws shade at Manchester United

The 28-year-old has been called up and is included in England’s final 26-man roster for the 2026 World Cup. Having secured the domestic double, Marcus Rashford had a wonderful 2025-26 campaign with FC Barcelona. His performances surely helped convince Thomas Tuchel.

Following his selection, Rashford shared an Instagram story saying, “Special thanks to Unai, Hansi, Thomas, Aston Villa, Barcelona and England for believing in me when things got tough.”

Notably, he left out the Premier League club Manchester United, despite still being contracted with the Red Devils.

Marcus Rashford joined Man Utd in 2015 and enjoyed a good time at the club. But in early 2025, due to a rift with Red Devils’ management, he was loaned out to Aston Villa. There, he had a good half-season under Unai Emery.

At the beginning of 2025-26, Rashford joined Barcelona on loan and went on to win the LaLiga and Spanish Super Cup titles under Hansi Flick.

The 28-year-old has now clarified his stance on social media saying, “To make my IG story clear. It’s not a dig of any sort! I’m a MU supporter, and that remains. I was showing gratitude to the clubs and coaches that I have worked with over the past 18 months, they have played a big role in this call up.
