After a slip in the Premier League title race, Arsenal face another blow as Martin Odegaard remains a doubt for Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

Martin Odegaard was subbed off in a 2-0 loss against Aston Villa. Mikel Arteta confirmed that Odegaard was ‘feeling something’ and was forced to leave the field.

Both teams played a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg. This is a crucial match for these two football clubs and a win is a must to qualify for the last four.

The Gunners dropped points in the title race after losing to Unai Emery’s Villa at home. Liverpool also lost their match and allowed Manchester City to take charge of the title race.

Mikel Arteta addressed the media and said that there could be a possibility of a title change. He said, “yeah that’s a possibility. That’s the reality now. It’s been the same for a few months. We knew this moment could come and now it’s about reacting and keeping believing and doing what we can do.”

He was questioned on whether he has leaders in the team to turn around the season? Arteta added, “we don’t have any other solution. If you want to win championships, if you want to be there in the Champions League, when you have these moments you have to stand up. If not that means that you don’t have a quality that is very necessary. Now it’s a big test for us.”

Arteta was also questioned on the lack of energy his time showed in the second half and it seemed that Villa had more. He said, “Obviously, the result is a key indicator as well. When you score a goal and you have to dig in. We made the changes, we brought energy, that was just in the moment that those two moments occurred. When you lose you have to recognise the qualities of the opponents as well.”

If Martin Odegaard is injured for the Bayern game then Arsenal might be in trouble. They need all their players to remain fit for this crucial UCL tie.
