Liverpool will now attempt to find a replacement for the iconic Egyptian after announcing that Mohamed Salah will depart the team at the end of the current campaign.
The 33-year-old winger’s 2025–2026 season hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations of previous seasons, notably last year’s dominant Player of the Year campaign in which he led Arne Slot’s team to a 20th league triumph.
But how will the Reds replace Salah? We have listed six players who could fill in his place at the club.

6. Francisco Conceicao
The winger, who joined Juventus permanently from FC Porto just last summer, is the most recent player rumoured to be involved in this discussion. The player whose potential is a big draw for the Reds is Conceicao. He is 23 years old.
After a season in which he has only managed three goals and three assists in 23 Serie A games, the Portuguese is arguably not a popular choice on the list.
5. Yankuba Minteh
Yankuba Minteh of Brighton is a really intriguing choice, despite his name being possibly less well-known than others on this list.
The Gambia international is an explosive right winger with a left foot, much like Mohamed Salah. In the 2023–2024 season, he also played for Feyenoord under Arne Slot, scoring 11 goals and dishing out five assists in 37 games. Slot could be keen to bring him next season to replace Salah.
4. Yan Diomande
With 10 goals and seven assists in 26 games, Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga hero, has had an incredible breakout season in the German top division.
The 19-year-old Ivorian is capable of playing on either wing. Diomande is stylistically similar to Salah with his lightning-fast pace and straightforward style of play. The Reds would keep him as a backup option if they fail to sign the preferred replacement.
3. Bradley Barcola
PSG’s Bradley Barcola may be a great deal for Liverpool because he has proven his qualities in every competition. Given that he can play on either wing, Barcola will be a wise choice for the Reds.
Having started 15 of his team’s 22 Ligue 1 games this season, Barcola, 23, might be that man. Nevertheless, the French international has scored 10 goals in the league. He could provide maximum output on the field, considering his explosive pace.
2. Anthony Gordon
The Reds are considering Anthony Gordon as a potential successor to Salah this summer. The Newcastle star’s preference to play up front or on the left is one concern they might have.
However, that could prove to be a gamble as he has barely played on the right. Hence, if the Reds are seriously considering him, then he could take some time to settle into that position.

The talented winger for Bayern Munich has been linked to a move to Merseyside in a number of stories in recent weeks. Olise has already scored 16 goals and provided 27 assists across all competitions this season, so it’s understandable why several major European teams are showing interest in him.
When cutting inside from the right onto his left foot, the France international has the same lethal ability to summon magic as Mohamed Salah. The 24-year-old, who was in England and spent several years at Crystal Palace in the top division, would be an ideal replacement for Salah in the Liverpool lineup.
