The Three Lions are one of the favourites to lift the prestigious title!
England national football team have confirmed the final 26-man roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They have already included some top players in the squad, but there are some prominent names as well who have not received a call-up.
Led by Thomas Tuchel, the Three Lions will be gunning for the prestigious title for the second time. They won their first one in 1966. Alongside France and Spain, England are also one of the favourites to win FIFA’s flagship tournament.
Harry Kane is going to captain the English squad. Players like Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and others have been included in the final 26-man contingent. The Three Lions are placed in Group L along with the likes of Croatia, Ghana and Panama. They are most likely to get through to the group stage.
Stars like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Harry Maguire and Morgan Gibbs-White are not going to represent the England national football team at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Why did Morgan Gibbs-White miss out on World Cup squad?

Despite being in a top run of form for Nottingham Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White has failed to receive a call-up by Thomas Tuchel to represent England at the grandest stage of them all. In 53 games for the Garbaldis this season, the 26-year-old has scored 18 goals and has seven assists across all competitions.
After the Nottingham vs Bournemouth Premier League contest, Gibbs-White said,
“I know myself that I have done more than enough to be in the squad. I got on the wrong side of someone’s opinion. I have been on the wrong side of people’s opinions throughout my career, so I’m only going to bounce back. We had a good conversation. I respect him (Tuchel) for calling me and telling me the news. I agreed with what he had to say. I’m glad the season is behind us now, I’m going to concentrate on the summer.”
As per Thomas Tuchel, it was not easy to select the final 26 players to represent England. He also mentioned that it is not the most talented squad, but it is the 100 per cent committed squad. The Three Lions’ head coach have stated his reason for not picking up players like Cole Palmer, Morgan Gibbs-White and Phil Foden.
“Does this mean that the other guys that you mentioned did anything wrong? No. For some of them, it’s just a positional thing that we also tried to have a balanced squad and not to bring five number 10s and make them play out of position because whom would we do a favour with? The player or ourselves? I don’t think so,” said Tuchel.
