Top 10 most expensive signings of 2025 summer transfer window; Alexander Isak & more

Liverpool broke the British transfer record twice in the 2025 summer window.

The 2025 summer transfer window’s top 10 signings show some incredible numbers, with Manchester United and Liverpool leading the way.

Just a list of the top ten players that have cost clubs in millions, including a record-breaking €144 million for Isak, the highest price ever paid in Premier League history. It should come as no surprise that the English first division leads this list with eight teams. However, Galatasaray stood out by acquiring Osimhen and breaking into the top 10.

Luis Diaz moved from Liverpool to Bayern Munich for €70 million. For a price commensurate with the worth of a well-established player in Europe, Bayern acquired the adaptable forward who was looking for a new challenge. It didn’t take long for the South American to adapt to the atmosphere as he got his new chapter in the career sailing after scoring in the Supercup.

9. Martin Zubmendi – €70M

It was a long-awaited saga as Arsenal were planning for a long time to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. However, they had to wait until the summer transfer window to bring the midfielder for €70 million. Following the exit of Thomas Partey, the club started exploring his replacement and managed to find the Spanish player as his successor.

8. Maethus Cunha – €74M

For €74M, Matheus Cunha left Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Manchester United. Although some market watchers were taken aback by the cost, this transfer highlights the excitement for Cunha’s technical and decisive play. At Old Trafford, Cunha starts a new phase of his career.

7. Bryan Mbeumo – €75M

For an estimated €75 million, Bryan Mbeumo left Brentford to join Manchester United. After an excruciatingly long pursuit, he finally arrived and has already opened his account for the Red Devils in the league.

In order to bolster their attacking options, United acquired the star, who was well-known for his effectiveness in the Premier League. The Red Devils are anticipated to greatly benefit from Mbeumo’s versatility.

6. Victor Osimhen – €75M

The Nigerian striker moved from Napoli to Galatasaray for €75 million. After years of connections with Premier League clubs, particularly Chelsea, Victor Osimhen’s performance was somewhat lacklustre. However, he deserves praise for turning down the Saudi Pro League’s high salary to join the Turkish team.

Osimhen is now the most costly player in Turkish football history as a result of this deal. Instead of risking losing their prolific scorer the following season, Galatasaray signed him. Osimhen had already been on loan at the Turkish club for the previous season.

5. Benjamin Sesko – €77M

For a base fee of €77 million, the Slovenian forward left RB Leipzig to join Manchester United.

Benjamin Sesko is regarded by United as a replacement for Rasmus Højlund, who was traded to Napoli. The young striker wants to make a name for himself with a team that is competitive.

After losing out on Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, the Red Devils looked to the 22-year-old. They took a significant gamble by signing the Slovenian when Ollie Watkins was a sweet option right there.

4. Nick Woltemade – €85M

For a club record €85 million, the German international forward moved from Stuttgart to Newcastle United.

Newcastle’s aspirations and the potential of the budding star are reflected in this huge investment. His signing further opened the gates for Isak to join Liverpool, as it was evident that the Magpies bought Woltemade as a replacement for the Sweden international.

3. Hugo Ekitike – €95M

The French forward became one of Liverpool’s most expensive strikers after joining from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95 million. Liverpool consented to pay a €95 million upfront fee plus further performance-based bonuses.

Ekitike’s experience at Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt demonstrated his potential. The striker already has two league goals for the Reds this season.

2. Florian Wirtz – €125M

The German talent cost €125 million, including add-ons, to join Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. Supporters were excited about Florian Wirtz’s arrival at Anfield because they anticipated the attacking midfielder having a big influence.

However, the midfielder’s cameo in the club’s last three games hasn’t been satisfactory. But the fans will remain hopeful that Wirtz will soon reach his ceiling at Liverpool, given the money they spent to bring him.

1. Alexander Isak – €144M

The Swedish striker became one of the most expensive signings in British transfer history when he moved from Newcastle United to Liverpool for a record-breaking €144 million. On deadline day, the greatest transfer drama of the 2025 summer window concluded with Isak.

The deal, which has no add-ons, helped Newcastle save on loyalty payments, thus making it feel like a deal worth essentially €150 million. Liverpool’s acquisition of Alexander Isak is a declaration of purpose as they bolster their offensive capabilities.
