Many big teams aren’t competing in the Club World Cup.

32 clubs from around the world started competing for worldwide dominance in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which has been the most star-studded edition to date.

Even while the event attracted a top-tier group of continental champions and reliable players, the absence of a few heavyweight clubs—some of the most valued in the world—has been noticeable.

Here are the ten most expensive teams by squad valuation that have not qualified for the 2025 competition in the United States, along with the big stars that won’t be lighting up the international stage, based on data from Transfermarkt.

Which most valuable clubs are not competing in the Club World Cup 2025?

10. Sporting CP – €511M

Sporting CP, a Portuguese powerhouse, completes the list. They continue to generate top-tier talent with players like Pedro Gonçalves, Viktor Gyökeres, and Gonçalo Inácio. Still, they just missed the Club World Cup cutoff in a cutthroat European field.

9. Brighton – €556M

Brighton’s worth is evidence of their astute hiring practices. The Premier League club have been ablaze with players like Pervis Estupiñán, Evan Ferguson, and Kaoru Mitoma. However, despite their development, Brighton lacked the European heritage necessary to earn a place in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

8. Bayer Leverkusen – €567M

With their undefeated domestic campaign in the 2023-24 season, the crowned Bundesliga winners under Xabi Alonso stunned Europe. Players like Victor Boniface, Jeremie Frimpong, and Florian Wirtz became breakthrough stars. But Bayer Leverkusen’s recent ascent was not rewarded by UEFA’s qualification procedures for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

7. Aston Villa – €592M

Aston Villa have exceeded expectations under Unai Emery. They are now a dominant force in both the Premier League and Europe thanks to players like Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins. However, they have not met the qualifying requirements on time, like many others on this list.

6. Manchester United – €643M

The outcomes of Erik ten Hag’s stormy reign were not entirely consistent. Even with top players like Lisandro Martínez, Rasmus Højlund, and Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s poor European play prevented them from making it to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. It’s a tough pill to accept for a club with their international reputation.

5. Newcastle United – €651M

Newcastle are now among the most valued teams in the world because of their Saudi-backed comeback at St. James’ Park. They embody the future of English football with players like Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, and Bruno Guimarães. However, that future will have to wait until the next cycle of the FIFA Club World Cup.

4. Tottenham – €766M

Given Tottenham Hotspur’s inconsistent European record, their absence is not shocking. Nevertheless, their team has valuable players like James Maddison, Heung-Min Son, and the highly regarded Cristian Romero. They have been thrilling under Ange Postecoglou, but not reliable enough to deserve a platform in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

3. Liverpool – €868M

Liverpool are left out even though they won the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and are still a top-four PL team. Notable figures such as Darwin Núñez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Mohamed Salah will be observing from a distance. It was their final season under Jurgen Klopp that saw them fail to book a place in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

2. Barcelona – €1.07BN

Despite going through a moment of change following Lionel Messi, the Catalan giants still have a talented roster. From Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha to Pedri and Gavi, Barcelona continue to be one of the most technically skilled teams in Europe. Lamine Yamal has also become the next great thing in European football.

On this front, meanwhile, their inconsistent performance in continental competitions has cost them a place in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

1. Arsenal – €1.09BN

Despite challenging Manchester City in consecutive Premier League title contests, Mikel Arteta’s team were unable to qualify for the Club World Cup. With players like Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Martin Ødegaard, and William Saliba propelling Arsenal to national prominence, Arsenal’s lineup is full of exceptional, youthful talent.

Which is the most valuable team not in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025?

Arsenal are valued at around €1.09BN, and they are not in the event.

How many teams worth over €1BN are not in the competition?

Two teams worth over €1BN are not in the competition. Barcelona and Arsenal.

Which out of the top six Premier League teams failed to qualify for the Club World Cup?

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
