Mozambique name 25-man squad for AFCON 2025

The Mambas were drawn into a very tough group.
Chiquinho Conde, the head coach of Mozambique, has revealed his final roster of 25 players chosen for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, revealing a well-rounded team that blends intriguing young talent with tournament experience.
The Mambas will try to advance past the group round for the first time in their history as they make their sixth appearance at Africa’s premier championship.
With 16 players returning for another regional tournament, Conde has kept the core of the team that competed in the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire. Nine newbies who will witness TotalEnergies CAF AFCON action for the first time join them.
Goalkeepers Ernani and Ivane Urrubal, as well as veteran defenders Mexer, Reinildo, Bruno Langa, Ifren Matola, Edmilson Dove, and Nené, make up the returning group.
Mozambique have started preparing for the 35th edition, which is scheduled to begin on December 21.
While the majority of European players will head straight to Albufeira, in Portugal’s Algarve region, for a five-day training camp starting on December 16, players from Africa and the Middle East will begin arriving in Maputo this week.
Mozambique’s campaign begins on December 24 against Côte d’Ivoire, the reigning champions, with the goal of getting off to a solid start in what looks to be a fiercely competitive tournament.
