The Netherlands and Morocco last faced each other in May 2017 in a friendly.
The Netherlands are currently in red-hot form as they look ready to face Morocco in their round of 32 in the FIFA World Cup. The game will be played at the Estadio Monterrey in Guadalupe, Mexico, on Saturday, June 29.
Ronald Koeman’s men started their FIFA World Cup campaign with a breathtaking 2-2 draw against Asian giants Japan. Dutch skipper Virgil van Dijk broke the deadlock for Oranje before Keito Nakamura found the equaliser just six minutes later. Crysencio Summerville scored the second, but Daichi Kamada did not let the Samurai Blue settle for a loss and scored in the 89th minute.
However, the Netherlands gave a dominant performance in the second game, defeating Graham Potter’s Sweden 5-1. Coming off a 5-1 win over Tunisia, Sweden were expected to give tough competition to Oranje. Nevertheless, courtesy of braces from Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo and a later goal from Crysencio Summerville, the Dutch side secured a comfortable victory.
The Netherlands later secured a resounding 3-1 win over Tunisia to end their group-stage campaign in first place with seven points. Ronald Koeman might have one complaint, as his side did not secure a single clean sheet and conceded four goals.
