The Oranje were set to release the final list of names to compete in the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Monday, May 25. It has now been pushed two days back and will now be unveiled on Wednesday, May 27.
Ronald Koeman has given the injured players some more time, who are fighting their way back. Memphis Depay, Jurrien Timber and Justin Kluivert are a few names which are not yet confirmed to play in the upcoming edition of FIFA’s flagship competition due to their fitness issues.
In a recent statement by the Dutch football association, Koeman mentioned, “By taking two extra days, we can be more certain that the players we are going to select are in good shape. Moreover, it gives us the opportunity to personally see, speak to and assess several players who are in contention for the final selection during training days on May 25, 26 and 27.”
“This has no further impact on our original schedule, as preparation with the complete group starts on Saturday, May 30. I would therefore like to utilise the extra time this offers to take all aspects into account in the choices we make regarding the final selection,” the 63-year-old said further.
