The Magpies have been hit with an injury wave.

A major blow has been dealt to Newcastle United ahead of their Wednesday Premier League matchup with Manchester United.

Nick Woltemade, the expensive summer acquisition, is expected to be sidelined by the Magpies due to illness, according to manager Eddie Howe.

In recent weeks, the striker has been used in a midfield role as Howe attempts to force the German, along with Yoane Wissa, another summer addition, into the team.

Wissa came off the bench, and Woltemade played as a No. 10 behind natural winger Anthony Gordon, who began as the only centre-forward in their most recent game, a 3-2 home loss to Everton.

“Potentially a sickness in the squad, Nick Woltemade hasn’t trained through illness, but we will give him every chance for tomorrow.”

“Tino Livramento is getting closer and closer, this game possibly comes too soon for him, we are desperate for him to become available.” said Howe.

Due to a hamstring injury, Livramento was missing the last seven league games.

Another summer acquisition for Newcastle, Jacob Ramsey, also became ill and puked during halftime of the team’s weekend match against Everton, but could be back against Manchester United.

Eddie Howe: “Jacob Ramsey trained fine yesterday.”

Magpies hit with an injury wave

The Magpies, who are currently in 13th place in the league after winning just one of their previous seven games, are hoping to move back into the top half of the standings.

Schar has been sidelined for a long time to come due to an ankle ligament damage he sustained against Leeds United in January. If his recuperation goes according to plan, he might be back in action next month.

Krafth is anticipated to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury that required surgery. He is not going to play against Manchester United.

Guimaraes hasn’t played since sustaining an injury late in last month’s match against Spurs. Since then, it has come to light that the Brazilian will miss a significant number of games and won’t be able to play again until after the next international break.

Eddie Howe on Manchester United:

“Our intention in every game is to get into them, be a proactive team rather than a reactive team. Attack them. They have tweaked things tactically; they have a really good atmosphere there. You can see an upturn in their general performance; they have some really good players. It is a chance for us to rediscover our best form at home.”

When will Nick Woltemade return?

He could return for their next game.

Where do Newcastle United stand in the table?

They are 13th in the table.

When will they play their next game?
