The Magpies have turned down the Reds’ initial bid for Isak.
Newcastle United have rejected Liverpool’s opening bid of £120 million for Alexander Isak, as they are working on finding a replacement for the Sweden international.
Isak had earlier confirmed his intention of joining the Reds and had already informed the Magpies a week ago about his future at the club.
Newcastle are looking to find a successor for the former Real Sociedad international and have expressed interest in signing Benjamin Sesko, for whom Manchester United are also quite eager.
The Reds are keen to bolster their attack more
Despite signing Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool are looking to further reinforce their attack. They are ready to break the British transfer record to sign Isak from Newcastle. Previously, it was assumed that after they acquired Ekitike, the Reds would abandon their pursuit of Isak.
However, they continue to push for his signing. On the other hand, Newcastle also left the striker out of the squad for their pre-season. The latest report revealed that Isak is currently training at his former club in Spain.
Newcastle continue to look for Isak’s backup
With time, Isak’s relationship with the club and manager could deteriorate, and Newcastle might be forced to sell him before the end of the transfer window.
They have also been less active so far in the window, only signing Anthony Elanga. As Isak is adamant about leaving, they will have to act quickly to find his backup.

Liverpool have done great business in the transfer window to shore up many areas of the squad under Arne Slot, who led them to the Premier League title last season.
They will once again be favourites to win the title as they added plenty of firepower to their attack. Once Isak’s deal is complete, their attack will be brimming with exceptional quality for next season.
Liverpool will certainly return with a fresh deal and further push for his signing, leaving Newcastle no option but to sell him, especially after the player expressed his desire to seek new challenges.
