The Brazilian player continues to deal with injury problems.

Only a few months until the World Cup begins, Neymar is said to have “opened the door” to a spectacular transfer.

The 33-year-old, after a dismal stint with Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal, made an emotional comeback to his boyhood club Santos at the beginning of 2025.

However, things have not gone as planned since he returned to Brazil. While Neymar has had yet another injury-plagued season, Santos are now in 16th position in the league, only one spot above the relegation zone.

He will be a free agent in 2026 because his current contract only lasts until the end of December, after the Brazilian league season ends. Neymar is also eager to jump-start his career and make his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil team as the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws near.

Since tearing his ACL in a qualifier match against Uruguay more than two years ago, the attacker has not played for his nation.

Sport claims that no clubs have expressed a real interest in signing Neymar, even though he is believed to have a desire to return to Europe.

Neymar handed one potential destination to revive his career

According to the Spanish publication, he now has two options: join the MLS with Inter Miami, which remains an ideal option, or sign a six-month contract extension with Santos.

His team is now battling to continue in the top level, so their future is uncertain; even if Neymar’s father is apparently eager for him to stay in Brazil.

With the MLS transfer, the 33-year-old would be reunited with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, who together produced one of the most lethal assaults in history at FC Barcelona. There, they even won the treble.

The forward might become a designated player for Inter Miami since former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are set to retire at the end of the current campaign. In addition, Sport denied rumours that the Brazilian was going to Italy and that he would join Inter Milan or Napoli.

When will Neymar’s deal expire at Santos?

His current deal will expire at the end of the year.

Which team could the 33-year-old join if he leaves Santos?

Inter Miami remain a possible destination for the forward.

What about returning to Europe?

No European clubs are interested in signing him, as per the reports.
