Nico Schlotterbeck RULED OUT of FIFA World Cup 2026 after injury during Germany vs Ivory Coast

The 26-year-old was subbed off at the end of the first half.

The Germany national football team went head-to-head against the Ivory Coast national football team for their second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The high-intensity game took place at the Toronto Stadium.

The Julian Nagelsmann-led side underperformed in the first half. Their strategies in the final third were not quite up to the mark. The German national football team struggled to score a goal in the first half. Côte d’Ivoire took the lead after Franck Kessi found the net in the 30th minute. This only put the Elephants in an advantage, but it was not enough for them.

In the end, the four-time world champions came out on top after Deniz Undav scored a sensational brace in the second half of the game. They need to work on their strategies as they lacked urgency in the final third during the first half. There can be a setback from their 2-1 win against the Ivory Coast national football team. Nico Schlotterbeck was subbed off after a tackle by Amad Diallo.

Julian Nagelsmann on Nico Schlotterbeck

The Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann said, “Nico is suspected to have sustained a ligament injury. It’s not looking good.”

Nico Schlotterbeck went down on the ground after a tackle by the Ivory Coast forward Amad Diallo at around 30 mins. The 26-year-old was not subbed off by Nagelsmann during the first half. Antonio Rudiger was only brought to the field by the German head coach at the start of the second half. The injury did not look serious during the first half, but due to Schlotterbeck’s discomfort, he was replaced by Rudiger.
