The Vikings can seal a place in the Round of 32 with a win in tonight’s match.
Norway take on Senegal in their second FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I clash at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on June 22. The European side sit top of their group after a big win over Iraq and can seal progression to the knockout stages with a second successive victory.
Two goals from Erling Haaland fired the Vikings to a dominant 4-1 win over Iraq in their opening match. Aymen Hussein briefly levelled the match at 1-1, but Haaland’s second goal and a late strike from Leo Ostigard sealed the win for Stale Solbakken’s side, with Hussein scoring an own goal in stoppage time.
However, the head coach will be worried that his side have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three games. They are nevertheless on a four-match unbeaten run and will be favourites to extend that streak against the Lions of Teranga.

Thoughts on the lineup
Solbakken had a couple of injury headaches coming into the match. Julian Ryerson was substituted because of an injury, and David Moller Wolfe also complained of fatigue after the match. However, both of them are fit enough to start in tonight’s match. Brentford’s Kristoffer Ajer and Bologna’s Torbjorn Heggem form the centre-back pairing. They will shield Orjan Nyland, who starts between the sticks.
Arsenal maestro Martin Odegaard starts alongside Sander Berge, with the latter tasked with disrupting the opposition’s play. Benfica’s versatile utility man Fredrik Aursnes completes the midfield trio.
The Norwegian front three have been in solid form in the tournament. RB Leipzig’s exciting talent Antonio Nusa starts on the left flank, with Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth slotting in on the right flank. Erling Haaland, the team’s talisman, starts up front as the centre-forward.
