Matchday 24 of the Premier League is set to be underway

Nottingham Forest will be looking to bounce back after a humbling 5-0 defeat to Bournemouth. Despite that setback, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remains third in the Premier League and has been one of the surprise packages this season.

Forest will be eager to make amends in front of their home fans, especially after outshooting Bournemouth but failing to convert their chances. Anthony Elanga was a bright spark in that loss, and Forest will need him and the rest of their attack to step up against a disciplined Brighton side.

Brighton, meanwhile, saw their six-match unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 home loss to Everton. Despite dominating possession and taking 17 shots, they couldn’t find the net, with Joao Pedro leading the charge. Now sitting ninth in the table, the Seagulls will be determined to return to winning ways.

Given both teams’ recent struggles in front of goal, this could be a cagey affair, but Forest’s home advantage and Brighton’s attacking intent make for an intriguing battle.

Kick-off

Saturday, February 1 at 12:30 p.m. local time (6 p.m. IST)

Location: City Ground

Form

Forest: W-W-D-W-L

Brighton: D-D-W-W-L

Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest)

Anthony Elanga had a lot to prove after the stint with the Red Devils. Elanga showed promise in Manchester but he could not get enough time. So, he flew to Nottingham. Boy, he has shown! In 23 games, he has 3 goals and 5 assists, and most importantly Nuno trusts him. That’s what he needed, a coach who could show faith in him.

Joao Pedro (Brighton & Hove Albion)

The Brazilian striker has contributed the most goals for his side this season. Pedro has 5 goals and 5 assists in just 17 games. One of the most prolific talents that the Brighton scouts brought into the side, he can frustrate the defences on will and finish with poise.

Injury & team news

Nottingham Forest could be without Callum Hudson-Odoi for this one as he deals with a groin issue, making him a doubt for the match. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Sangaré remains a long-term absentee with a hamstring injury, and he isn’t expected back until early February 2025.

Brighton, on the other hand, have a longer injury list to navigate. Evan Ferguson, James Milner, and Mats Wieffer are all sidelined until early February, while Ferdi Kadioglu is dealing with a toe injury that could keep him out until mid-month. On top of that, Igor faces an even longer spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury ruling him out until June.
