Olympique Marseille open talks to appoint Maurizio Sarri as next manager

Maurizio Sarri recently resigned as Lazio’s manager
In an attempt to find a potential replacement for Jean-Louis Gasset, Olympique Marseille have reached out to former Lazio and Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri.
With a few games remaining, Olympique Marseille are now ranked eighth in the standings, distant from the European berths following a challenging season. In order to make a run at the top of Ligue 1, supporters anticipate major changes in the summer.
After abruptly leaving Lazio in March, Sarri has been connected to several positions in recent months, including those at Milan, Napoli, Torino, Fiorentina, and even his former team, Chelsea. This suggests a fascinating summer ahead for the Italian strategist.
Nicolo Schira describes how Marseille, looking to replace Gasset, contacted Maurizio Sarri to discuss a potential summer transfer. After his one-year stint with Juventus, the French team already expressed interest in the coach; however, he turned down the offer because he wanted to take a year off from the sport.
Updates on the 65-year-old tactician’s future are anticipated in the upcoming weeks, as it is unlikely that he will take an extended break from football this time.

Giants of Serie A Milan just turned down the opportunity to name Maurizio Sarri their next manager as they search for a new leader.
The Rossoneri have undoubtedly been associated with a number of names, and following the public and outspoken rejection of Julen Lopetegui’s candidature by supporters, their demands appear to be in support of Antonio Conte and Thiago Motta. However, Porto manager Sergio Conceicao remains the club’s top choice for the position, and negotiations have already taken place with his representative.
According to Luca Bianchin, contacts for other managers have also occurred during this search for a new boss. Former footballer Mark van Bommel and current Portugal manager Roberto Martinez are among the other names the club has lately spoken to. Sarri, who left Lazio a few weeks ago, was also contacted, but at this time, his resume doesn’t appear to wow them, so they decided not to hire him.
Conceicao appears to have the edge over Porto for the position, as the Portuguese player is expected to meet with the club in an attempt to leave.
