Panama announce final squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 ft. José Córdoba

They will play in their second World Cup.
The whole 26-player Panamanian team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been revealed. This will be the nation’s second FIFA World Cup.
Eight years ago, during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Los Canaleros made their World Cup debut. They lost all three of their games against Tunisia, Belgium, and England. The team ended up at the bottom of their group.
Today, head coach Thomas Christiansen revealed the entire team. Aníbal Godoy is the team’s captain and supreme leader.
The 36-year-old San Diego FC player holds the national record for the most caps (159). Adalberto Carrasquilla (UNAM), Ismael Díaz (León), José Fajardo (Universidad Católica), and José Córdoba (Norwich City) are further important members of the team.
An intriguing generation that has already garnered attention in recent competitions like the Concacaf Nations League and the Gold Cup joins the Panamanian national team. Verifying that development on the largest stage in football will now be the objective.
Panama now appears to be a far more competitive team with more international experience and players starting to make an impression outside of the region, rather than the team that just celebrated qualifying.
Panama’s qualification campaign was almost flawless. The Canaleros dominated every opponent they faced, qualifying undefeated and without significant issues.
They performed admirably both offensively and defensively, winning every game. Panama confirmed that it is going through one of the greatest footballing eras in its history. They scored 19 goals during the course of the two qualifying phases.
