Foden was on the scoresheet in Man City’s 3-3 draw with Real Madrid
Thierry Henry, a Premier League legend, has praised Phil Foden of Manchester City for his outstanding performance against Real Madrid.
Less than a week after scoring two of his three goals against Aston Villa from outside the penalty area, Phil Foden was back at it. This time, the stage was considerably larger: a trip to Real Madrid for the Champions League knockout stages.
And with his team facing opposition as well. It happened during a part of the game where City were in danger of trailing by two goals, as Pep Guardiola observed after the game. In the Bernabeu, things can get complicated very quickly. Foden made things simpler.
It is no more a possibility to give him room 20 yards from the goal. More than any other Premier League player this season, Foden currently has six goals from outside the box. Josko Gvardiol’s subsequent attack came as a complete surprise, but Foden’s goal stood out to be a game changer.
It felt meaningful to step up when Kevin De Bruyne was forced to the bench owing to illness. The talented Belgian played a key role in Saturday’s midday match against Crystal Palace, but Foden’s brilliance bookended that performance.

Erling Haaland witnessed a magnificent match at the Bernabeu as a bystander in a game when long-range shooting was prominent. Real Madrid are currently the team that the forward has played against most frequently in European competition. The striker had just one chance and failed to score, meaning that he hasn’t scored in any of his three career games against them.
Speaking to the reporters, the former Arsenal player acknowledged the forward’s performance and showered him with plaudits.
Thierry Henry: “What I will say about Phil Foden this year is that when Erling Haaland doesn’t show or when Kevin De Bruyne is injured, now he puts that team on his shoulders.
Now, we can start to talk about world class because you put your team on your shoulders… This guy now is world class.”
After Phil Foden was replaced in the closing moments of Manchester City’s exciting 3-3 draw with Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola has stated that Foden is okay.In Tuesday night’s first leg of City’s quarterfinal Champions League match, Foden struck an incredible goal. However, with three minutes left, the England player was substituted by Julian Alvarez.
Fortunately for Guardiola, Foden’s injury problem doesn’t seem to be too bad. The 23-year-old was, in fact, disappointed in his boss for benching him in the closing minutes.
