There have been some terrific, calm and cool penalty-takers since the Premier League era began. You definitely need more than just courage to slot one home in the English top division. It’s a commendable ability for a professional football player to have.

Penalty can be a useful addition for players to score some goals. Particularly for those who are aiming for the league’s Golden Boot at the end of the season or for clubs that need three points to stay in the Premier League or even qualify for Europe.

When examining the success rate of every regular spot-kick scorer in league history, some of the top scorers in the competition’s history miss out. We take a look at players with the best penalty record in the Premier League.

5. Ruben Neves: 8 perfect penalties

The ex-Wolves midfielder’s hitting skill proved something else. He scored eight penalties and three free kicks. He had a knack for netting pearlers from outside the box.

He has a perfect record from the penalty spot during his career, notably eight from eight in the English top division. However, he did miss a chance in a 2-0 loss to Sheffield United during their 2017–18 promotion-winning campaign.

Chris Wood has spent most of his career playing on loan. The forward has featured for many top Premier League clubs. Whenever they recieved spot-kick, they would turn to the 6’3 striker who has always maintained 100% penalty record at every PL club.

The player is currently playing for Nottingham Forest after joining them on loan in 2023 before his move became a permanent transfer. Wood has converted all eight of his spot-kicks.

3. Dimitar Berbatov: 9 perfect penalties

The Bulgarian really squandered three spot-kicks in the Bundesliga earlier in his Bayer Leverkusen days. But he apparently polished his art by the time he came to England.

Additionally, Dimitar Berbatov has a 100% success rate after nine penalties. The former Manchester United player scored all nine of his penalties in the Premier League. He has a 100% conversion record throughout all competitions for Fulham, Manchester United, and Tottenham.

2. Yaya Toure: 11 perfect penalties

The legendary Toure of Manchester City has scored all 11 of his league penalties. He may have scored more if he hadn’t repeatedly watched Sergio Aguero step up. The Ivorian’s reputation as an unwavering presence in midfield was well-earned, and his confidence extended to dead-ball scenarios.

During Fulham’s exciting 3-2 loss to Manchester United on Sunday, February 1, Raul Jimenez converted his 12th consecutive penalty, solidifying his position in league history. The striker currently holds the record for the most consecutive penalties scored without a miss in league history, thanks to his perfect accuracy from the spot.

Jimenez beat Yaya Toure to become the Premier League’s greatest ever penalty-taker. Raul Jimenez made Premier League history as he converted his 12th penalty in the competition.
