A win will secure the qualification spot for Scotland

Scotland and Morocco will lock horns at the Boston Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on June 20th, 2026. The clash will be the second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for both nations. Scotland won 1-0 against Haiti in their opening game and are at the top of Group C.

Morocco, on the other hand, had mighty Brazil as their first opponents of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Morocco were judged to be the better team during their last encounter by many fans as well. They are one of the strongest African teams in the world and can potentially make a historic run in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Considering the high stakes and the need for collective team performance, individual players on both sides will also have to step up. Therefore, in this article, we will take a look at the top 5 players to watch out for during the Scotland and Morocco game.

5. Yassine Bounou (Morocco)

This game will be of greater importance to Morocco, as they currently have only a single point on the board. Considering Scotland’s attacking threat, Morocco will require their goalkeeper to perform at his best. Bounou is an elite shot-stopper and can single-handedly win games for his national team. He is very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well.

4. Andy Robertson (Scotland)

Andy Robertson has cemented himself as one of the best fullbacks of the 21st century. He makes clever runs into the final third and has the ability to find his teammates with crosses and cutbacks from the left. His off-the-ball movement and positioning allow him to excel on defensive and offensive fronts. He played masterfully against Qatar on the opening matchday as well.

3. Achraf Hakimi (Morocco)

Achraf Hakimi is coming into this World Cup after being a major contributor to PSG winning two consecutive UEFA Champions League titles. He is a dressing-room leader and always takes on extra responsibility when playing for the Moroccan national team. His explosive pace allows him to excel in both offensive and defensive transitions.

2. Scott McTominay (Scotland)

We have seen Scott McTominay’s resurgence ever since his move to Napoli from Manchester United. He is considered one of the best central midfielders in the world right now and deservedly so. He is technical, strong, and a good decision-maker. He has added goalscoring to his game over the last few seasons as well, and can hurt Morocco with his clever late runs.

1. Brahim Diaz (Morocco)

The Real Madrid winger is Morocco’s superstar and arguably their most important player. He is quick, intelligent, and hard-working. After a disastrous penalty incident during the AFCON 2025 finals, Brahim Diaz has picked himself up and has started his 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with an impressive performance against Brazil, where he played a perfect through pass to Saibari to set up the opening goal of the game.
