Cristiano Ronaldo’s side are second in Group K ahead of tonight’s match.

Portugal take on Colombia in their final Group K fixture in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, on June 27. The Selecao das Quinas are second in the group with four points, and can leapfrog Colombia into the top spot with a win tonight.

The 2022 quarter-finalists started their campaign with a shock 1-1 draw with minnows DR Congo. Joao Neves put his side ahead in just the sixth minute, but the Leopards did not give up and got their reward when Yoane Wissa found the back of the net before half-time.

However, the Selecao das Quinas bounced back in the next match against Uzbekistan, winning 5-0. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in the first half, with Nuno Mendes and Rafael Leao also finding the back of the net.

With four points earned, the European giants should progress to the Round of 32 regardless of tonight’s result. However, a win will propel them to the top spot, providing an easier fixture in the knockouts. A draw will keep them in second place, but a loss can allow DR Congo to push them down to third.

Portugal (4-2-3-1): Diogo Costa; Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Renato Veiga, Nuno Mendes; Ruben Neves, Vitinha; Pedro Neto, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Felix; Cristiano Ronaldo (c).

Substitutes: Jose Sa (gk), Rui Silva (gk), Tomas Araujo, Francisco Conceicao, Diogo Dalot, Goncalo Guedes, Goncalo Inacio, Rafael Leao, Joao Neves, Matheus Nunes, Goncalo Ramos, Samu Costa, Nelson Semedo, Bernardo Silva, Francisco Trinaco.

Thoughts on the lineup

Roberto Martinez has most of the squad at his disposal and will go for a similar starting lineup. Diogo Costa has been brilliant in goal for club and country and keeps his place between the sticks.

With Tomas Araujo a doubt after suffering an injury against DR Congo, Ruben Dias is paired with Renato Veiga in central defence. Joao Cancelo starts in his natural right-back position, while last match’s goal-scorer Nuno Mendes starts on the left.

Mendes’ Paris Saint-Germain teammate Vitinha is with Ruben Neves in a two-man midfield pivot. The wonderful Bruno Fernandes starts in an advanced role, tasked with being his side’s creative outlet.

Chelsea speedster Pedro Neto starts on the right flank, with Joao Felix on the left. His Al-Nassr teammate, the talismanic Cristiano Ronaldo, starts as the team’s attacking focal point up front.
