Qatar name preliminary squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 ft. Sebastian Soria

Qatar were the host nation in the last World Cup.
The initial roster of the Qatar national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, was revealed by Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, manager of the Qatari national team.
There are 34 players on the Qatari national squad, including 42-year-old veteran attacker Sebastian Soria, Asian Player of the Year winner Akram Afif, and the team’s star and seasoned captain, Hassan Al-Haydos.
After staging the 2022 World Cup, the Qatari national team is preparing for its second World Cup appearance. They will compete in Group B, which also includes Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2026.

The Middle Eastern team couldn’t move past the group stage last time. They will aim for bigger ambitions this time around, with the Spanish manager set to oversee the games.
However, Lopetegui will have to cut down the squad when he makes the announcement of the final roster that will compete in the competition next month. Meanwhile, the preliminary squad includes plenty of fresh faces. But for the final team, many names will lose their place on the roster.
