FCB have been dealt a massive blow.
Raphinha sustained an injury that will keep him out of action for a significant portion of the season, and Barcelona have confirmed this significant setback during the international break.
This is a massive setback for the club, considering the significance of Raphina’s presence in Hansi Flick’s squad, and given that they will be playing many crucial matches. It now puts the club’s ambitions in danger.
The Brazilian winger sustained the injury during the Brazil vs France friendly in Boston. Barcelona have confirmed Raphinha’s right hamstring (biceps femoris) injury.
The Brazilian will now start a rehabilitation program, according to an official statement from Barcelona. He cannot play in the first leg against Atletico on April 8 or the second leg on April 14 due to the five-week schedule.
“Raphinha has a right hamstring injury, as confirmed by medical tests carried out by the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) following the discomfort he experienced during the Brazil v France match in Boston on Thursday,” the club’s statement read.
The injury happened on Thursday during Brazil’s 2-1 friendly loss against France. Fans and coaching staff were concerned about Raphinha’s fitness when he was taken off before halftime despite having a strong start to the game.
Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Selecao, first justified the halftime change as a precaution, but later scans have shown a more significant problem.
