Real Madrid plotting £90m bid for Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes: Report

Los Blancos are looking to revamp their squad in the summer.
Real Madrid have made Bruno Fernandes their shocking £90 million target. The world’s most successful team, Real Madrid, have been present at almost every Manchester United game lately, both at home and away to watch the player.
The target of their scouting efforts is 30-year-old Fernandes, a star at Old Trafford, posing a serious problem for the financially pinched United administration.
Ruben Amorim, the manager of United, is unwilling to part with his inspirational captain. But given the club’s financial problems, they could ponder accepting the mammoth offer from the Spanish club.
At the completion of the season, Real Madrid plan to restructure their roster, which includes acquiring England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool on a free transfer.
Fernandes is also being considered as a top acquisition and a possible replacement for 39-year-old Luka Modric.
In Real Madrid’s trophy-filled history, the former Tottenham midfielder recently became the oldest player to play for the team.
However, following an incredible career, Modric’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Furthermore, it is obvious that his time in the Spanish capital is soon coming to an end, even if he accepts a 12-month contract.
Real Madrid’s £80 million purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo in June 2009 would be eclipsed by a £90 million deal, setting a new record for Madrid. United paid £68 million to sign Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
In 227 games across all competitions, the Portuguese star has scored 95 goals for the Red Devils. With eight goals in 28 Premier League games this season, he is also the team’s top scorer. Since February, he has been in the form of his life.
The United skipper previously remarked on his desire to surpass Andy Cole and Ole Gunnar Solskajer in the United goalscoring records and also achieve 300 appearances for the club.
