The first leg of the UCL campaign ended in a 1-1 stalemate at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The second leg was completely Manchester City dominating Real Madrid as they beat them 4-0. Moreover, Real Madrid failed to capitalise on their chances as Manchester City ran rampant with Bernardo Silva being their main threat in that match. The Portugese scored two brilliant goals and created various chances as well. Eventually, Manchester City went on to win the final against Inter Milan.

The 2021-2022 UCL campaign was going well for Manchester City until they faced Real Madrid. Real Madrid on the other hand turned both legs against PSG and Chelsea as Karim Benzema scored consecutive hat-tricks against.

The first leg ended 4-3 for Manchester City with Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva on the score sheet. Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr were on the scoresheet as the Frenchman scored a panenka penalty in the 88th minute to make the score 4-3 for the night.
