Top five right-wingers Manchester United should target in summer 2024
Manchester United are looking to add wingers to their squad.
Manchester United have already commenced their transfer business and managed to sign two players under the new board, but they won’t stop there certainly. More signings will come as the club hopes to get back to their title-winning era.
However, there are plenty of positions that need to be reinforced. One of the areas could be right-wing. Manchester United have failed to find a reliable winger who can make things happen for them.
Antony was one of the biggest signings. But he failed to live to up the price, which saw Erik ten Hag playing Alejandro Garnacho on the right. In the current summer window, the club should look to make a signing for the right-wing position and below we present the top five options United can look for.
Top five right-wingers Manchester United should target
5. Francisco Conceicao
Conceicao, who has a £25 million release clause in his Ajax contract, spent the 2023–2024 season on loan at Porto. According to rumours in Portugal, United are now reportedly interested in the 21-year-old.
The youngster boasts excellent attributes. During the Euro 2024, he showed glimpses of his talent and might prove to be a great signing who still has room for improvement. He can be a future United star with the right guidance at the club.
4. Pedro Neto
Neto made 24 appearances in all competitions in 2023–24, recording three goals and eleven assists despite dealing with injury issues. The Portugal international has been watched by United, who see him as a possible Antony replacement.
Neto, last season showed that he is ready to play for big clubs. His pace and ability to beat defenders from the right wing make him an intriguing signing for Manchester United. They need a player who can make a big difference. He also boasts Premier League experience and will smoothly flourish in the league barring any injuries.
3. Takefusa Kubo
Having played for Real Madrid and Barcelona in the past, Kubo joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. He is considered one of their best players for the past two seasons.
According to reports in England, United and Liverpool are big fans of the Japan international, whose contract has a £51 million release clause.
2. Donyell Malen
Germany’s media outlets claim that Donyell Malen is a target for United. A trade agreement could see Jadon Sancho make his permanent return to Borussia Dortmund. But the German club have so far failed to meet United’s asking price for Sancho which indicates that the deal could be off.
However, United can still pursue Malen to bolster their right wing given the forward was in the spotlight for the Netherlands in the Euro 2024. He will be a wise signing, knowing he has the right amount of experience to excel at any club.
1. Rodrygo
Rodrygo was crucial to Real Madrid’s 2023–24 triumphs. But with Kylian Mbappe‘s move to the Santiago Bernabeu, his spot in the starting lineup is now in jeopardy.
This could limit his playing minutes on the pitch and a move away could be an option for the Brazilian. If the chance presents then United should do everything in their power to bring the talented forward.
According to reports, other teams, including United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, are keeping an eye on his situation at Real Madrid.
